Online English to Urdu Dictionary

Availability of substantially good web applications in Urdu have been a dream and still it is. Urdu is one of the most widely spoken languages of Asia but you will rarely come across an Urdu website or web application. Urdu has only a nominal share on web and it is nothing if we compare its share with the population of Urdu speaking community in the world. While searching web for some good tools to work as English to Urdu dictionary, I could gather the following three:

Dictionary by Muqtad'ra Qaumi Zuban:

What I could find the most versed one is the English to Urdu dictionary by Muqtad'ra Qaumi Zuban. The dictionary gives a variety of results for almost any query and they claim it to fulfill the needs of people coming from any walk of life. It gives the grammatical details of the query entered whether it is a noun, verb, adjective, adverb or anything else. However, it is very deficient when it comes to modern English, for example, when I searched for the queries like "geek" and "nerd" it did not return any results. It returned the results for the query "global" and did return nothing for "globalize", compare the screenshots below

Google Translator:

This is the tool I suppose most of the people use, the advantage it holds over other tools is that it can translate the sentences too and give reciprocal translation as well i.e. from urdu to english. It also pronounces the english words. The disadvantages are: it does not give any grammatical details nor it translates the modern english words into urdu, and the later is shared by all other.

Online Urdu Localization Terminology Glossary:

The tool lists all the english words in its database starting from a certain english letter with their urdu translation. The unique feature it bears is that it lists many other english words (as many as it has in its database) if you provide it with the starting letter/letters. But again, it does not give you any grammatical details nor any clue about the modern english terms,

How to Share a Facebook Post in a Facebook Group or in a Private Message or On Your Page

All the facebook users share the interesting stuff on their wall/timeline they see in their news feeds. You just hit the "share" button below the post you want to share and a pop-up box appears and you hit share button simply to send it to your wall/timeline. We usually don't notice what is more there on that pop-up box which can be useful in certain circumstances: When you want to share that post
  • On a friend's timeline
  • In a facebook group
  • On your facebook page
  • In a private message to a facebook friend
Just have a look at the screenshot below
The dropdown enclosed in the red rectangle appears if you click on "On your own timeline" which offers you four more options to direct the post you want to share. All of them are self-explanatory, no more trick is involved, just click on the relevant option you want your post to be shared to.

How to Share a Facebook Post or Comment Outside Facebook

Ever wanted to share a Facebook post with one of your friends who is not on Facebook for whatever the reasons through email? Ever needed to post a link of a particular Facebook post on your blog or website? Ever needed to include a link to a certain Facebook post in the article you are writing for a magazine? The task is pretty simple when you want to share inside the realm of Facebook, you can share with him/her simple by hitting on the "Share" button below the post and choose where to share i.e. either on you wall/timeline, in a private message or share in a group. And one more thing, how to get a link to a particular comment on Facebook when you want a friend of you (inside or outside) to read it? You need to know a little from Nerdiology if the scenario is as above.

Here is how to do it:

Look at this screenshot and notice what is enclosed in the red triangle you probably thought only useful to know when the given post is created on Facebook. But it can do more
The text (which is "16 hours ago") in our case is called "time stamp" in technical terms. This text can be used to link to that particular post. There are two ways to link to it.
  1. Simply click on it, it will lead you to a new page which will have only that very post you want to link to. Now left click in the address bar of your browser and copy the link. Now paste the link where ever you want, it will lead to the post you wanted to share outside Facebook upon click on it.
  2. Or right click on the time stamp of that particular post, select "Copy Link Address" (I suppose you are using Google Chrome, if you are using Mozilla Firefox, select "Copy Link Address" and in case you are Internet Explorer user select "Copy Shortcut) and paste wherever you want to share it outside Facebook.

Sharing a Facebook Comment:

Similar is the method if you want to share a link to a Facebook comment, there is a time stamp below every comment on Facebook, get a link to it by any of the methods described above and share wherever you want, inside or outside of Facebook.
